Land Rover Bursary winners take on Eastnor

March 4, 2019

On Thursday 21st February, the five winners of the 2018 Land Rover Bursary gathered at Eastnor Castle, in Herefordshire, to take on the Land Rover experience track.

Our Corporate Partnerships Manager, Lucy, tells us about the day: “One of my favourite projects I’ve worked on in my time at The Prince’s Countryside Fund is the Land Rover bursary. I was lucky enough to attend the Land Rover Experience Centre at the beautiful Eastnor Castle with this year’s inspirational winners. The sun was shining, and fun was had by all our bursary winners as they drove around the castle’s grounds in their Land Rover Discovery vehicles learning about all the specifications of the 4×4, making it the perfect vehicle for these young farmers and entrepreneurs. We saw how suited the vehicles are to drive through deep water, over steep gradients and even on two-wheels – all capabilities needed when tackling the terrain of the Exmoor uplands or the remote Highlands.

“From showing Exmoor Blonde cattle to creating digital smart tag devices to reduce livestock worrying, our bursary winners have outstanding and forward-thinking business plans and are wonderful ambassadors for the Fund and also Land Rover. See below how they value the opportunity to use a Land Rover for 12 months to help grow and expand their business. For Abbie Wescott, one of our winners from the South West of England, the vehicle has been life changing when transporting her cattle to agricultural shows over the summer. Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end and 2018/2019 will mark the end of the Land Rover bursary scheme, however the Fund will continue to look for opportunities to support young people across the UK.”
