Chris Sparrow

Christopher is a Chartered Surveyor and business owner with 27 years of experience covering predominately rural interests.

Recce Rural was founded by Christopher in late 2020 as a new company to provide professional services to the landed estate sector together with full engagement in the emerging sub-sector of Natural Capital via a subsidiary company Natural Capital Advisory which was launched in 2022.

Christopher is a Founder Director of the Environmental Farmers Group (EFG), a new farmer owned cooperative extending to 125,000 acres and centered on the Hampshire Avon catchment. EFG’s mission is to harness scale and member cooperation to secure the best environmental and financial returns for a wide range of natural capital goods and services.

Previously, Christopher worked out of London for six years as Head of Rural and Coastal for the Duchy of Lancaster, a 47,000 acre private estate now owned by King Charles, as Duke of Lancaster. This followed eleven years as the Resident Agent at Boughton, the Northamptonshire home of the Duke of Buccleuch. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1995 following graduation from Harper Adams in 1994.

Christopher has also acted as a Non-Executive Director for a number of commercial and charitable organisations including Camgrain, the farmer owned grain cooperative.

Christopher lives in Cornwall, where his three teenage children instil inspiration and exasperation in equal measure.
