Farming Help Harvest Eucharist
October 19, 2021
The PCF has always supported the Farming Help charities and so we were both delighted and honoured to be asked by The Addington Fund to participate in the Farming Help Harvest Eucharist held at The Queen’s Chapel of The Savoy in October on Sunday 17 October. Our Chair, Lord Curry, gave The Address and PCF’s Executive Director, Keith Halstead, gave The Reading.
Located in Savoy Hill, London, the chapel has an unusual status as a royal peculiar – it is a private royal chapel of Her Majesty The Queen, in right of her Duchy of Lancaster, and not under episcopal jurisdiction. The chapel was built under the terms of the will of King Henry VII in the early sixteenth century. And subsequently King George VI commanded that it should become the Chapel of the Royal Victorian Order.
Given its historical and architectural significance, the chapel provided a very special setting for the thanksgiving and for all who attended to celebrate another harvest and to learn more about the five national rural charities involved in Farming Help – FCN, Forage Aid, RABI, RSABI and The Addington Fund.
