Farm Resilience Programme
Our Farm Resilience Programme offers free business and environmental skills training to family farms across the UK.
Our flagship Farm Resilience Programme (FRP) offers free business and environmental skills training to family farms across the UK.
The programme is open to dairy and livestock family farm businesses and takes a whole-farm and whole-family approach.
Our aim for resilient family farms hasn’t changed since we launched the FRP in 2016, but the landscape for farming has. That’s why we’ve developed an updated programme, to better support the evolving needs of farming families.
The initial phase of the programme provides farming families with a tailored business health check and three practical workshops to help them:
- Make sense of what’s changing around them.
- Explore current and future business and environmental opportunities.
- Build a practical plan that suits thier short-term goals and long-term business strategy.
Our pilot programme is now open for farmers in the following areas:
- Devon
- Exmoor
- Lancashire
- Northern Ireland
- Northumberland
- Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire
- Peak District

Evaluation of the FRP
Through a series of surveys, interviews, and analysis ADAS’s evaluation found that the Farm Resilience Programme delivers significant economic, social, and environmental benefits for farmers.

How does it help?

Derek Clark, Garstang
“The programme allows farmers to be open and honest with others, which doesn’t happen very often. It’s a great way to put your head above the parapet and own how well your business is doing, to talk things through with others in a similar situation and with the expertise of the consultants.”

Margo Wordie, Huntly
“Change is never easy, but change is coming and we all need to prepare as much as possible and this programme will help us move forward and look at the business and the operation.”
