Andrew Phillips LVO
A chartered accountant by profession, Andrew is FD and Deputy Keeper of the Records at The Duchy of Cornwall, where he leads the Finance, Insight and Technology team. He played a key role in establishing the Duchy’s transition to net zero as a strategic objective.
Andrew studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Merton College, Oxford. After a brief stint of graduate study in the U.S., he took his ICAEW qualifications with Touche Ross, specialising in audit and corporate finance. On qualifying he left practice and worked in financial and management reporting at Debenhams and then at Lloyd’s TSB. He joined the Duchy of Cornwall in 1998 and has been fortunate to build a varied career immersed in this historic landed estate. This has included being a director of J V Energen, the Duchy’s pioneering biogas plant that became the UK’s first commercial scale biomethane grid injection facility.
From 2016 to 2018 Andrew studied for a Masters in Sustainability at the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership while continuing with his day job. His research projects focussed on ways to maximise the uptake of sustainability initiatives in the let land sector, and on the issue of modern slavery in UK agriculture. This latter work led to a few years as a visiting research fellow at the University of Nottingham Rights Lab and joint publications with the UK Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner.
Andrew lives in Somerset and London.
